Saloon Headliner

The Saloon headliner and underside of the sun roof are the same color

All MK V Saloons have sun roofs

Interior view of oval backlight with zipper and correct interior light.

This backlight has been tentatively identified as BD.4405, and this window was also used on later XK120 OTS’s.

The DHC headliner and zip out window surround are the same color

                  • The DHC top must have a headliner inside, with a single interior light above the rear seat.
                  • Exit assist loops were provided for the rear seat passengers.
                  • Straps were provided for securing the hood in the Coupé De Ville position.
                  • For the Drop Head Coupe, the hood material was lined with Mohair and cotton.
                  • Red, Tan, Pigskin and Biscuit interiors had a tan headliner.
                  • Grey and pale blue interiors had grey headliners.
                  • Suede green interiors had a green headliner.

Sun Visors

The saloon sun visors has two end pin hinges and the saloon sun visors have a rectangular wood knob, same as the cubby box.

The DHC has two sun visors, each is held in place by a center hinge.

Underside of Hood

As the MK V DHC has a lined head, the underside of the hood is not visible.

Door Panels

Saloon Door Panels

The front doors of the saloons had a zippered pocket, Plate N17 (SM).

Saloon Front Door Panel

The Saloon front door panels have map pockets and simple arc beads.

Rear Door Panel

The Saloon back door panels do not have map pockets, except as noted below, but do simple arc beads.

The storage compartment in the rear door of the saloon shown in the sales literature was only on the first 205 cars up to:

2½ litre SAL  chassis no. 520001-rhd and 527004-lhd
3½ litre SAL  chassis no. 620104-rhd and 627095 -lhd and 627097-lhd

… and  not on later cars. (PC)

DHC Door Panels

DHC Door Panel with “S” Beading and NO Pocket

The door panel in the owners manual is the same as shown in the photograph for all saloons. The only difference is the door lock knob is different in the owners manual(only on earlier cars) versus the later round style shown in the color photo. Obviously, the owners manual does show the earlier style vent window and the color photo shows the rounded vent window as Steve noted. Mark V DHC’s did not have door lock knobs.

The drivers door did not have a lock knob on any of the cars that I am aware of. The passenger door and the 2 rear doors should all have the same lock knob style.

Arm Rests

Neither the MK V Saloon or Drop Head Coupe have Arm Rests attached to the doors.

Both the MK V Saloon and Drop Head Coupe do have a fold down center arm rest for the rear seat.

Saloon fold down center arm rest for the rear seat.

The Saloon also has a stubby arm rest next to the rear door.

DHC fold down center arm rest for the rear seat in the stowed position.
